Many times we get a phone call that goes something like this: "Hello, I am trying to find my (insert here). Can you help me do that?"
The answer is simple; yes!
Let me start with a piece of advice; stop wasting your time and hard earned money with those internet based search sites (USA Search, Intelius etc.). Those sites are what I call "instant satisfaction" sites that draw you in believing that you will get some real good, current and INSTANT information. These sites are mass resellers of information grabbed off the internet and compiled by associations of relevancy. 98% of our clients have tried those sites and finally came to get the help of experts.
Here is how we can help you:
1. Expert Private Investigators - we have the training, experience and knowledge of locating persons that are not technically lost, but what I call "under the radar". We know how to do skip traces and people locates, we do them everyday of the year!
2. Access to real databases that have current and factual information that is useful. Information, if in the database, comes from real sources like applications, bills, records and much more. Our databases are the real deal, you don't get access without an application, background screening and operating a qualified business like a private investigation agency, attorney firm or collection agency. Our databases are used by law enforcement and other government agencies because they contain current and useful information. In my 18 years of public safety work and running a private investigation agency I have never considered using an internet based search site. They are junk!
3. Investigative expertise. Even though #1 talks about this, we have the expertise to know what to do when we hit a dead end. We are also lawfully allowed to take it to the next level (see #4). We can take information and generate new information by performing interviews, surveillance and other investigative operations.
4. Legally licensed to perform an investigation in our state. Although trying to find a lost loved one or old school mate may not be a big legal concern, we operate everyday legally and are LEGALLY allowed to operate a private investigation agency and perform investigations.
What can you do to help yourself?
1. Stop being drawn in by fancy websites that promise you information for a fee! That is the #1 problem I see with the search sites out there. They tell you there is information and it is enticing enough to get you to pay the $29.95 or $39.95 fee. You will normally find the fees to be "reasonable". Make no mistake in the power of the subliminal when these sites set their fees. You pay and blam, nothing useful is gained. And you know what really irks me about this sites? They technically have given you what they promised; information.
2. Call for a FREE consultation. We will tell you what we can do up front, how much it will cost and any risks that we, the experts, think will be encountered. Risk as I see it is paying a fee and nothing is found. Quite frankly, Rick and I tell clients the truth and if that cost us the fee we may collect that is okay. We really understand trust and would rather have you have that trust in us then to pay us a fee. I know it sounds crazy! Most PI's will tell you they can do something and the cost and never care about the trust factor.
3. Begin to collect your own data on the person. Before you call have a wealth of information about the person. The smallest of details or information can really assist you in locating a person. Clients are often amazed at the little things that matter in skip tracing. Things like names, nicknames, addresses, past phone numbers, cities or states they had lived in and a date of birth or age range can be extremely important. Sit down and jot down all the information you can think of. Do this a couple of times and you will see some information that may be pertinent being put on paper.
4. Think of what the information means to you. Many clients call us and want us to give them probabilities based on cost and whether or not the information is worth the cost. That is your decision to make. I would ask if the information is important to you would it really matter that is cost $190.00 and not $29.95? Do you think there is a difference in the quality of what you get in the fees I have listed? I do and can tell you there truly is a difference. See, we cannot put a value on information for you because we are not the ones that need it.
My final thought on locating someone is that it is no easy task. Sometimes it can be done within a matter of hours and other times it can take days if not months. Sometimes it can be done with a database search and a phone call and other times it requires visual confirmation. We often find that clients think because they have paid a fee it should be done within hours and at the least cost possible. The reality is each case is unique and the amount of time and money it takes can vary widely. As a person from the public safety side of government I can tell you that we had spent countless hours and money attempting to find people that were wanted for various crimes. The difference was we were operating with tax dollars the citizens had given to perform our duties. In the private investigation agency world it is your hard earned money and you should really consider what the information is worth to you.
